Landonline Bulk Data Extract

Landonline integrates New Zealand’s geodetic, cadastral, and land titles data.

LINZ makes Landonline data available as the Landonline Bulk Data Extract. The BDE is supplied in a specialised format.  The data is available in common GIS formats from a third-party suppliers.

NZTopo Topographic Database

Topographical mapping is available in vector form from the NZTopo database. This data is used to create the NZMS 260 1:50,000 map series.

The data is available in 1Spatials’ LAMPS2 format. It is likely that it will be more convenient to obtain the data from a third-party in a more conventional GIS format. Small amounts of data may be downloaded immediately in Arc Shape format using the NZTopoOnline web mapping

New Zealand Gazetteer of Official Geographic Names

The New Zealand Gazetteer of Official Geographic Names (the Gazetteer) is published by the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa (NZGB). The Gazetteer contains all official names for features within the NZGB’s jurisdiction.

The Gazetteer includes the following information for each official name:

• official name
• gazette or statutory reference
• type of feature or place (eg town, mountain, etc)
• position (in terms of the New Zealand Transverse Mercator 2000 (NZTM2000) projection and New Zealand Geodetic Datum 2000 (NZGD2000))
• description (where available)
• extent (where available).
